We are developing a graphic concept, exhibition panels, and a brochure for the Leibniz Institute for Jewish History and Culture for the exhibition “The Determining View: Images of Jewish Life in Postwar Poland.”

The Determining Gaze

Task and approach

For the exhibition “The Determining Gaze: Images of Jewish Life in Postwar Poland,” we are developing a new graphic concept, creating multilingual exhibition panels, and designing a brochure for the exhibition. The exhibition features photographs of Jewish people in Poland immediately after the Holocaust.

Subtle and minimalistic

Approach and (creative) implementation

We take the existing design and reduce it to the essentials. We deliberately keep the design minimalistic and understated so as not to distract from the photos, the actual exhibition objects. The exhibition panels thus serve exclusively as a source of information, communicating the sensitive content in a visually neutral way. We choose ochre yellow as the primary color, which blends well with the wall colors on site and guides visitors through the exhibition.

Multilingualism

Special features and insights

The exhibition boards will be used in two further exhibitions abroad. Therefore, we are ensuring a bilingual layout in which the selected fonts include both Hebrew and Polish letters.
