For the new wild boar enclosure at Goldau Nature and Wildlife Park, we are responsible for designing several educational exhibits and are ensuring that the individual stations are interactive.

New Wild Boar Enclosure

Task and Approach

Goldau Nature and Wildlife Park has a new wild boar enclosure! Along the four viewing points, educational exhibits on various themes are being developed. We have been entrusted with the design and implementation of these exhibits and are focusing on interactive elements that provide visitors with information in a playful and easily accessible way. In total, we are developing four thematic areas: the wild boar’s habitat, the wild boar herd, interactions with humans, and enrichment.

Our Approach and Creative Execution

We are designing several wild boar silhouettes made of corten steel, which invite discovery and blend into the surrounding landscape. With the help of a large puzzle, visitors can match specific statements to local stakeholders and thus learn about the points of contact between humans and wild boars. An integrated showcase also offers the chance to view a wild boar skull at up close. In addition, we have recreated a feeding ball, which visitors can turn to learn more about the boars’ behaviour. At other rotating modules, they can also set off in search of wild boar tracks – but watch out: the answers can only be read once the modules have been turned correctly!

All the stations are designed in line with the park’s existing corporate identity. In terms of materials, we have chosen a sustainable combination of black locust wood and HPL panels. As these are outdoor exhibits, we have also taken particular care to ensure the materials are durable and weather-resistant.

Outside the EU

Special Features and Findings

For the Goldau Nature and Wildlife Park, this was our first trip to a non-EU country, and we learnt a lot about the registration procedures and customs regulations in Switzerland. As we were unable to be on site during the planning stage, we had to rely on the Nature and Wildlife Park itself to document the conditions for each visitor viewpoint in detail. It worked extremely well!
